British Association of Removers

BAR Registered Removal Companies

Before you even get a quote for a move, you should be looking for the BAR Badge. The BAR, or British Association of Removers, are an organisation that sets the standards for the Removal and Storage Industry across the UK. By ensuring you use a BAR accredited company you’re making sure your goods will be insured, looked after and delivered on time, every time.

The British Association of Removers was formed in 1900 and represents all leading removals and storage companies throughout Great Britain. All members are inspected regularly to ensure that they meet the stringent standards requirements and follow good practice guidelines.

As a BAR member we observe the BAR Code of Practice by using approved contract conditions and liability. All the packing materials used by BAR members are recyclable. In the extremely unlikely event of an emergency you can be assured that all BAR members have a domestic emergency guarantee available to customers.

The Advanced Payment Guarantee

Every member of the BAR operate to extremely high standards. Part of becoming a BAR member involves a long checklist of items, including being financially vetted.

As is standard practice for all BAR members, payment must be taken upon booking. This may worry some people, but the APG scheme is designed to remove that issue completely.

The new BAR Advanced Payment Scheme started in 2017, where it replaced the IMMI Payment Guarantee scheme. This scheme ensures that if your removal company does suffer some financial difficulty, you’ll be refunded all of your money. As of 2019 we are now approved members of the Movers Trading Club LTD (MTC) – The Movers Trading Club LTD is an NVOCC registered with the U.S Federal Maritime Commission organisation number 027552 and Purdie Worldwide Removals & Storage Limited are acting as authorised agent for the Movers Trading Club LTD in relation to the ocean transportation element of all international moves to the Unites States of America.

IAM Movers

The International Association of Movers (IAM) is a global trade body with members who provide moving, forwarding, shipping, logistics, and related services.

It is the largest international trade association for the industry, originally founded by charter businesses that were doing business with the US government.

The IAM was established more than 50 years ago and now has more than 2,000 members that are based all over the world. The IAM offers a variety of programs, resources and membership protections, as well as regular events that are designed to encourage networking and knowledge sharing, including the IAM annual meetings.

Late Key Waiver

We offer late-key waivers on every house to house move. This way you’re completely protected from any extra costs should there be any delays, providing you’ve paid for the late key waiver. The cost of this waiver is completely unique to your move as well. It will depend on the amount of men needed, the day, and the volume of goods and a few other things. This waiver allows our men to complete the job no matter how long the keys are delayed and you won’t have to pay an extra penny.

Terms & Conditions & Insurance Policies

As part of the BAR, we adhere to a set of issued Terms and Conditions that are in place to protect you as the customer and us as the mover.

Where we cannot resolve any complaints using our own complaints procedure, as a BAR member we use their own Dispute Resolution Ombudsman for dispute resolution. In the unlikely event of a complaint arising and you wish to refer the complaint to them please contact 0333 241 3209, via their website.
